I came here to be a fisher of men.

Part of the crowd that came to see the Jesus Film

Saturday evening. We had our biggest crowd of

boat people at this meeting but as the film ended

my projector caught fire and burned.

This precious mother, with baby in tow,

came up to my second floor porch to visit.

The people have really opened up in friendliness

and welcomed us here in the village of Makoko

Friday Afternoon March 5th

Soul Winning in my newly painted Canoe! Brightest in the Village
This lovely lady, Juana was the first person to come
visit me in my house. She was very upset with me saying,
through an interpreter that she had seen me go from house
to house in my canoe and I had not come across the water
from my house to hers. She asked me to come pray with her.
I went by with Segun Babalola, the man in the striped shirt.
We sat on her living room floor, on pieces of cardboard boxes,
that were her only seats. With Segun intrepreting, I shared
Jesus Christ with her and she and her two
sons. Musthapa, and Solomon, trusted Christ.
She may be poor in this world but rich in Christ.

Friday Morning - March 5, 2010

Part of the crowd that came to our Thursday evening Bible Study

I preached this morning to a small school with 100 students
near the entrance to Makoko. Here are some of the
students. The Principal is the lady on the right.
The teacher on the left is a Christian and I gave her my
soul winning book. More than 80 of the students trusted
Christ in the invitation.

Wednesday - March 3, 2010

57 attended the first service. More than 50

are planning to be baptized at our organizational service

on March 14th.

Thursday Morning - March 4, 2010

I gave a Proclaimer machine that

plays the Egun New Testament

to Michael Shemede,

who lives at the busiest intersection in Makoko

More than 100 boats filled with women assemble in front

of Michael's house each morning to buy and sell.

He plays the Egun New Testament for them to hear.

Tuesday March 2nd 2010

Sunday, a neighbor teenager, giving my boat a bath
Bro. Chris and Pastor Wale going shopping to buy items
for the building we are remodeling to begin the
Calvary Baptist Church.
We set up our sheet high above a village area on
the grounds of a church and people began coming.

as the film began. Jeannie told me to take attendance,
I should count the eyes and divide by two.
194 received Christ when the invitation was given.

Monday evening March 1st - Film

We set up a screen next to a church on the shore of Makoko
Bro. Chris sang songs and began gathering the crowd.

We played games as the crowd continued to grow.

This is just a portion of a huge crowd that came
when I started the film. Bro. Chris gave the invitation and
more than 300 people trusted Christ. A great first day in March!

Friday's Film story - I could not upload earlier due to computer problem

We set up the Jesus film to be seen from this high tower

overlooking many houses and water ways.

Hundreds could see it from all directions

Boats began coming before it was dark and while I could take photos

and people got as close as possible. I gave the invitation and invited

people to pray with me receiving Christ. It sounded in the dark

like a huge shout coming from all directions as people were

inviting Jesus into their hearts.

Soulwinning on Monday - March 1st

Soul Winning, hut to hut in my boat today
I came to this house with several people on the porch

Everyone in the photo, old enough to understand,
trusted Christ today in the invitation.
I preached the entire message with an Egun interpreter
and when I invited them to pray they all prayed in English
and told me they understood all along! Amazing!

Pastor Bedolph Abandy will come to Makoko

Pastor Bedolph Abandy, the assistant pastor of Independent

Baptist Church in Lagos has surrendered to come to Makoko

to pastor Calvary Baptist Church and to lead the

Calvary Christian Academy. We will begin the church this coming

Wednesday evening as a Bible Study.

Pastor Abandy is the Vice Principal

of a school in Lagos and will resign his position to come

and work in the school and church here.

Thursday Night Feb 25, 2010

This little girl lives across the water way from me.

She comes by to see me often in her wash tub boat.
I put toys in her tub for her brothers and sisters.

Never knew till today that she is one of the Bale's daughters

We played games with the children before the film

Last one with a blown up ballon on their foot

won a prize, Start Stamping each other's balloon

Meet my newest girl friend! Isn't she precious.

I could not get her to smile but she still stole my heart.

These men are the village leaders in that area.

The man in the golf cap tried to stop me from showing

the Jesus film and was the first resistance I have had here.

I laughed with him a while and won him over.

In the invitation, he was one of more than 300

that received Christ as his Savior.

Waiting for it to get dark I preached to a small crowd

that was gathering. Notice how they strap babies behind them.

Wednesday Morning - Feb 24, 2010

I preached in a small French speaking school this morning.

We went back to where we showed the film last night

I spent time teaching Pastor Joel Ayivoji how to win a soul

to Christ and gave him copies of the soul winning book.

One of the Bale's sons is on my right interpreting for me.

Showing a film Tuesday evening Feb 23, 2010

Some times ya just gotta stop eating beef jerky, and noodles and

go into town and get real food. Lagos' version of KFC.

I splurged today and had chicken and french fries! Mmmmmm!

I can stay another month in Makoko now.

(On a sad note, I leave one month from today)

These goats ran from me like they thought I was after

goat meat. I have had my share of goat. I'll take

chicken any day!

Last evening we found a church in the village

which is not theologically straight but I asked permission

to use their front sandy area to set up a gospel film.

In the invitation most of the church members received

Christ and the pastor begged me to come teach him how to win souls.
I will spend a few hours with him today!

We set up a screen at this lagoon area in front of the building.

Unfortunately the photos we took during the movie

were very dark and hard to see, the only clear photo has a little

naked boy in view. I decided it was best not to publish that photo

on the internet. Naked children are everywhere here!

I know the way to a momma's heart. I loved on her baby

and won her heart before the film ever started.

We had a great crowd and momma was one of many

that trusted Christ in the invitation.

The Village Bale (chief) comes to every presentation when

I show the Jesus film. He adds his support everywhere.

The people of the village greatly respect him and know that

I live in his house next door to he and his wife.

He never goes anywhere without taking his Bible Machine

which plays the New Testament in Egun.

I hear him playing it through the night.

Tuesday Feb. 23,2010 At My School

I have preached in 5 other schools near Makoko but today
for the first time at my school I shared the story of Salvation
with all my students. Noah is interpreting for me.

My Boat Ministry - Hut to Hut Soul Winning

Notice the small brown speaker in the front of my boat.

It is very powerful. The black box is a "Proclaimer"
and it plays the New Testament in the Egun Language.
People come out on their porches
when they hear the Egun Bible.
The little speaker is a gift from
Karen and Rugh Boggs of Hahira, Ga.
In every mission trip I have taken, the first financial gift
to help me has always come from Karen and Rugh.
Karen was the pianist in the first church I pastored
in Ohio, 38 years ago. She and Jeannie

were childhood friends.
Thank you Karen and Rugh, your gift has enabled

hundreds of precious people to hear the gospel.

I have already visited hundreds of homes

in the Makoko Village in my soul winning boat.

Monday Morning School Opening Exercises

Many of our students come to school hungry so rice

and fish are available for those who have had no breakfast

We have opening exercises at 8 a.m. singing songs

and saying the pledge to the Nigerian Flag

I prayed with them to begin this school day and week of school
